Frequently Asked Questions

  • I try my best to get back to everyone, but I’m a one woman show that currently lives on the road, often in very rural locations with sketchy to no service. On top of that I receive a lot of emails and messages everyday. If I were to answer all of them, I would never have time to work in the studio, write, take photos, be outside, daydream or simply enjoy my time on the road.

Sometimes I can answer emails and messages immediately, but sometimes it takes a few days, weeks or on a few occasions months to get back to people. While I used to feel guilty about not being answer everyone, now I know my limitations and simply try to do my best. If you sent me a really lovely note of encouragement and I don’t respond with a long thoughtful message, know that I read it and it meant the world to me. I appreciate your support and the fact that you were thinking of me and took the time to reach out.

If you emailed me a question, then I hope this list of FAQs I put together for ya’ll will answer it for you!

  • Well if that ain’t a loaded question…I’ve been making work for a little over 10 years now and have experience in many aspects of it….

    • Teaching: I’ve taught drawing and design classes from big universities to small technical colleges. I’ve also hosted small scale workshops and given artist talks.

    • Galleries & Exhibitions: I’ve worked with a variety of galleries to show and sell my work across the country, as well as curated exhibitions.

    • Running My Own Studio: I tried for many years to make a living and show work the way they tell you to in the art world and what I found was that it simply wasn’t for me. After much soul searching and other major life changes, I chose to completely change course and re-envision how I ran my studio. Finally choosing to make the leap entirely out of the art world and academia, into the realm of working as an independent artist, photographer and writer…I haven’t looked back since and never been happier!

Needless to say, I’ve done and learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t work for me and the path that I want to pursue with my work. If you’d like to read a little about my thoughts and struggles, check out the Journal for posts on everything from the creative process, to works in progress and notes from my life.

  • Any original work that is available to ship ASAP will be available in the shop. If you are interested in any large scale drawings listed as available on any other page of my website, send me an email here with the title of the work and shipping address. I will respond with an estimate for drawing and shipping cost. Please note that these originals take time to pack and ship, so allow 2-3 weeks for arrival.

I’m a one woman show and create as much work as possible. I release that work in small collections on my website a few times per year. Collection releases will be announced via social media, my studio journal, and mailing list.

  • I’m taking a break from commissions in 2022 to simply follow the creative path of my work. When commissions re-open, I'll announce it to my email list first, so be sure to sign up for those emails and be the first to know.

  • You can shop prints of drawings here and photography here. All reproductions are printed on William Turner archival, 100% cotton paper with a one inch border. These prints are all limited editions and can be signed upon request.

  • Will My Work Come Framed? Please check the description and photos of the drawing you are purchasing carefully to see if it includes framing or not. Some drawings are finished out in custom frames, while others will be mounted in a refinished antique frame depending on what I envision for the finished piece. If the work comes framed it will be listed in the description and will be included in the final price.

Framing Your Work: If you purchase a work that isn’t already framed, adding a frame to your work not only makes it settle into your space, but it will help to protect your new drawing or print from wear. As of right now I only offer my handmade custom frames for commissioned work, but here are some options to frame your work:

    • One of my favorite things to do is find a unique frame and refinish it from an antique shop.

    • Purchase a pre-made and size frame from either Jerry’s Artarama and Framebridge.

    • Take your work to a local frame shop and have it professionally framed for the best selection and service.

Matting Your Work: For drawings and prints I always recommend doing a float mount mat that’s at least 3” the whole way around. To float mont original drawings or sketchbook pages I recommend showcasing the entire work by leaving a space ¼-½” the whole way between the interior edge of the mat and the work itself. For prints I recommend leaving the same space the whole way around to show some of the white of the print border.

  • Original Drawings: My goal is always for you to be satisfied with your purchase. Please take the time to read descriptions carefully and the check colors on multiple screens if you are concerned about color variations. I try my best to represent the colors and tones in my work honestly and clearly. The sale, packaging and shipping of original drawings takes a lot of time and effort. Because of this, all sales of original artwork are final except in extreme circumstances. Please contact me here if you have any questions prior to purchasing or issues afterwards.

Prints: You may cancel your order within the first 24 hours. After 24 hours a 15% restocking fee will be applied. Returns and exchanges are handled on a case by case basis. We are not liable for any mishandling or failed delivery by the shipping service (USPS or UPS). Please contact me within 7 days of receiving your artwork.

  • Framed Work: All artwork is wrapped in paper, padded extremely well, and sent in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box. Most artwork will ship via USPS or UPS and will arrive within 2-4 days (domestic) from time of shipping (includes tracking & insurance). International shipments will be sent via USPS or other carrier. Shipping for work listed in the shop is listed with the items.

Please note - All original drawings take 1-2 weeks to be packaged and processed before they ship, so allow 2-3 weeks before they arrive at your doorstep.

Prints:  All prints are handled with the utmost care; packaged in paper or plastic sleeve. Prints 11x14 and smaller are mailed in a sturdy flat mailer while prints 16x20 and larger are mailed in a thick tube.

Please note - All prints take one week to process at the printer before they ship, so allow 1-2 weeks total before they arrive at your doorstep.

Shipping Costs: It takes a lot of time and energy to process your order and package it with care so that that when it arrives to you it arrives in pristine condition. The shipping cost listed with the work includes fees, packaging supplies, time, labor, and storage of the work as well as the shipping cost via UPS or USPS.
